Tyson movie poster: All photoshop and tattoos

Tyson movie poster

The Tyson movie poster features Mike Tyson’s big tattooed mug and reckless overuse of the Sketch filter in Photoshop. However, it also features lots of positive reviews from big media outlets, so that MUST mean the movie is good.

Objectified movie poster: Fun With Wingdings

Objectified movie poster

From the same guys that brought us the documentary Helvetica (A movie about a font. Really.) comes Objectified, a documentary about industrial design. It premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival. A far as poster design goes, it’s pretty clean. Of course, if the design of a poster for a movie about design wasn’t good, the irony would to too much to bear.

Inglorious Basterds Posters : Bloody , Brutal and Awesome

Inglorious Basterds

The 3 posters released for Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards do an excellent job of conveying exactly how wicked brutal and bloody this movie is. The broken helmet and the bloody bat just scream severe head trauma. The bloody knife through the nazi armband is a nice touch. The filthy hand holding the gun tells us that someone just got thrown a vicious beating, especially since the only way to get blood on the butt of your rifle is if you just smashed someone’s teeth out with it, which is par for the course in Tarantino films.

New Terminator Salvation Posters

Terminator Salvation
Terminator Salvation

From Terminator Salvation comes a one-sheet with a Terminator robot standing over us holding a mini-gun and looking menacing, and a wide poster featuring Christian Bale, the Terminator again, and..who is Sam Worthington? Decent posters, but not nearly as cool as that flash animated one they released last year.

The poster for Public Enemies features a Johnny Depp with a Tommy gun, a fedora and an overcoat.

The poster for Road to Perdition features a Tom Hanks with a Tommy gun, a fedora and an overcoat. Also rain and a kid.

Pandorum poster makes you reconsider pasta for dinner

Pandorum

Movie posters are traditionally supposed to invoke a movie’s worth of feeling and story in a single glance and get you excited to be a part of the experience. The movie poster for Pandorum looks like a warning against doing your own plumbing repair. It’s billed as a space-horror film starring Dennis Quaid, though I don’t see any space or Quaid. The tagline says “Fear What Happens Next”, but seriously, after being hung upside-down and having big, dirty tubes shoved into your mouth and out your eye sockets, the only thing left to fear is Tetanus. Or maybe Tennis Elbow.

Channing Tatum is Fighting ...something

Fighting Movie Poster

The poster for Fighting features Channing Tatum and... um... that's about it. It's rather bare. Is it about boxing? Kickboxing? Sumo? Who knows. Maybe he's fighting to keep his arms up. Maybe he's fighting a cold.

Evilution: An Explosion of Guns and Jets and a Screaming Guy

Evilution Movie Poster

The poster for Evilution sports a screaming guy with a machine gun and a syringe exploding from a skull with long strands of DNA with scientists and girls and more screaming guys and, of course, fighter jets.  I don’t really know how much more awesome you could pack into a poster unless maybe you threw dinosaurs in there fighting robot ninjas.

Crawler: 50 Tons of Terror

Crawler movie poster

We've always enjoyed illustrated movie posters because they can be over-exaggerated. This is a classic throwback to the grindhouse horror movie posters of the 70s. You’ve got the big gritty title, large-breasted, scantily-clad female lead with torn clothes and scared out of her mind. You’ve got the open-shirted all-American guy with the shotgun. And of course, a bulldozer with tentacles. Gotta love that bulldozer with tentacles.
