One more character poster has been released for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra showcasing the Cobra ninja assassin, Storm Shadow. Apparently ninjas wear leather trenchcoats now. At least the filmmakers were true to the cartoon and kept him outfitted all in white. It’s a little known fact that ninjas were renowned for their impeccable fashion sense. While his stealth may suffer, the ladies will swoon (so long as the movie doesn’t come out after Labor Day).
The newest Watchmen poster has the whole crew standing in the rain catching cold while eyeing you suspiciously as someone who might try to sneak into the theater without paying, but you better not, because one of those guys has a gun, and the blue guy in the back can nuke you from orbit. Only Rorschach has the good sense to wear a raincoat.
5 new character posters were released for G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra, featuring Sienna Miller as The Baroness, Channing Tatum as Duke, Marlon Wayans as Ripcord, Ray Park as Snake Eyes and Rachel Nichols as Scarlett. No poster for Destro or Cobra Commander yet. The posters only reveal the characters from their noses to their knees, as if to just give you a taste of what they’ll be like in the movie. In contrast with the 80’s cartoon, everyone is dressed in skin-tight black leather. The positioning of them on the posters gives them a bigger-than-life feel, and it looks like there’s some explosions going on in the background.
As a fan of the 80’s cartoon and once-collector of G.I.Joe toys, I’m curious as to what other characters will be revealed in this and future offerings in the obviously-soon-to-be G.I.Joe movie franchise. The first movie will surely cover all the main characters, but G.I.Joe was famous for having about hundred odd weirdos all in colorful, mismatched outfits, each with his or her speciality. Personally, I want to see Serpentor, the Cobra leader cobbled together from parts of history’s tyrants who wears a big snake outfit and rides a hovercraft that looks like a snake and says “This I Command!” a lot. ”

Black Dynamite premiered at the Sundance film festival and was so funkalicious that Sony Pictures snapped it up right away for a cool $2 million. The film stars Michael Jai White as Black Dynamite.
“When ‘The Man’ murders his brother, pumps heroin into local orphanages, and floods the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor, Black Dynamite is the one hero willing to fight all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House.”
That was the description from the official site. You can’t make this stuff up.
A poster for The Great Buck Howard has been released, featuring 5 additional cast members, including Tom Hanks, who plays the father to his real-life son's character.
A new poster for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li has been released. Fans of the video game were unsurprisingly disappointed by the first Street Fighter movie (starring Jean Claude VanDamme). However, we’re told this one should be entertaining. At least they got some solid talent in Kristin Kreuk. It remains to be seen if she will wear the traditional Chun-Li costume and do an upside-down helicopter kick. And also shoot fireballs.
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li opens on February 27th. Street Fighter nerds will have seen the film 5 times by the end of the day. And they will stink.
America found time to skip the 24-hour cable news frenzy over the inauguration to spend money on mindless comedy this weekend. Paul Blart: Mall Cop is the number one movie at the box office, raking in $31.8 million, which begs the question, "Are security guards at your local mall this entertaining to watch?" The mall cops at my mall just stand around and give teenagers in baggy pants the stinkeye when they linger too long near the DVDs.

It is a sad day in Hollywood. Ricardo Montalban died on Wednesday, January 15th at the age of 88. He was best-known for his portrayal of the enigmatic Mr. Roarke on “Fantasy Island” and the infamous Khan Noonien Singh from “Star Trek” and the 1982 film “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”. He is also known for his roles in “Mystery Street”,“Across the Wide Missouri”, “Sayonara”, “The Singing Nun”, “Naked Gun”, “Spy Kids 2” and many other films.
Born in 1920, he was the youngest of four Mexican children. His older brother Carlos took him to Los Angeles after graduating, where he got work in the movie studios and studied English. He was noticed by an talent scout and won an 8-year contract with MGM.
His considerable filmography lists over 160 roles in movies and television spanning a 66-year career that began in 1942 with the World War II film “Five Were Chosen”. His roles ranged from romantic leads to ethnic characters to treacherous villans. He won an Emmy for his role as Chief Satangkai in the TV series “How the West Was Won”. He even won a Tony nomination in 1950 for best actor in a musical. From 1965 to 1970 he was the vice president of the Screen Actors Guild, who honored him with a lifetime achievement award in 1993.
He is survived by his two daughters, two sons, and six grandchildren.
I give you the poster for Crank 2. Nothing says “kickass adrenaline-fueled action film” like a wiry, veiny arm with the movie title scarred into it, throwing the horns, with electricity. This poster says, “We’re not going to bother telling you what it’s about, but rest assured that some people are getting their asses beat in this movie, so save money for a ticket or you’re next.” Honestly, if I hadn’t seen the first Crank poster I wouldn’t know it was a poster for a movie, but whatever they were selling, I’d buy it. Except maybe if they were selling electric massages. That would be unpleasant.
Thought: How badass would it be if they gave Jason Statham the power to punch people in the mouth with electricity in the sequel? I mean, he can already kick butt, so how much more wicked would it be if he did it with lightning? And then, why stop there? When he punches someone with electricity, he should follow it up by shooting a guitar at them. On fire. With his mouth. And then fly away with metal wings. That would be wicked awesome.
Dead Snow premieres this Saturday. It’s a comedy-horror film about Norwegian teenagers on a ski trip that takes a turn for the horrific as they encounter a swarm of zombified Nazis. Not just Zombies, or Nazis, but Zombie Nazis, as if either by itself weren’t bad enough.
Ok, they had me at “Teenagers vs. Zombie Nazis”. This one took all of 5 seconds to get on my “OMG I Have To Watch This and Buy The Poster” list.
