In the foreword to "Premiere" magazine's choices for the "Top 25 Best Movie Posters", they said, "If watching a film is like having a dream wide awake, then movie posters are invitations to those dreams." We couldn't agree more.
What follows are comparisons between three different perspectives on what might be considered the "Best" movie posters of all time. We see a rather traditionalist approach with the AFI's choices and a more contemporary one with TC Chandler.
It is our opinion (with all due respect to all the hard working design teams in who work on movie posters designs) that in movie poster design "Older is Better". They simply don't "design 'em like they used to". Moviegoods will be showcasing numerous different lists of different movie poster "Best-ofs" in the coming months, so check back often and be sure to tell us which "Top 25" list you like best!
Can't help thinking that the AFI's pick of "Tootsie" in the top 20 is a less than inspired choice. We can't see that one pick in the top 100 let alone the top 20.
