For the fourth weekend, "The Dark Knight" remained at the top of the box office chart and while doing so, became the third highest grossing movie of all time behind "Titanic" with $601 million and "Star Wars" with $461 million. "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" in 2003-2004 was the last movie to enjoy an unbroken string of four weekends at number one.
Pineapple Express, which opened midweek because of the Olympics had a solid weekend as well, finishing in second place with an estimated $22.4 million. The Judd Apatow produced cannabis comedy, with a a reported budget of $28 million will likely pull in $80 to $100 million at the box office during it's run.
The other new release was was the teen-oriented female drama "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2," which finished in fourth place with $10.8 million, fueled not surprisedly by a predominately female audience.
