The world lost two entertainers over the weekend, as legendary musician and actor Isaac Hayes passed away on Sunday, August 10th at the age of 65, and actor-comedian Bernie Mac died on Saturday from complications from pneumonia at age 50.
Hayes rose to stardom in 1969 with the album "Hot Buttered Soul", and went on to win both Academy and Grammy awards for "Theme From Shaft," a No. 1 hit in 1971 from the film "Shaft" starring Richard Roundtree. His acting career included the movies "It Could Happen to You", "Hustle and Flow", "Reindeer Games", and the recently completed "Soul Man" (with Bernie Mac and Samuel L. Jackson). From 1997 to 2006 he voiced the role of Chef on the "South Park" animated TV series.
The popular Bernie Mac had a successful career which included his own Fox television series, "The Bernie Mac Show" and starring roles in "Ocean's Eleven," "Bad Santa," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Transformers."
