Disney has a winning record when it comes to promoting their teen pop star/musical movies, and with "Camp Rock" it's no different. With a premiere two weekends ago on the Family Channel in Canada, and on the Disney Channel in the United States, the Disney made-for-TV movie Camp Rock, starring the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, became the second most-watched TV movie for Disney, behind only "High School Musical 2". As well, traffic on Disney.com broke records over the same weekend as they featured an online streaming version. Is it any wonder they are already planning the sequel?
And no stranger to cross marketing, the soundtrack to Camp Rock made its debut at #3 this week on the Billboard 200 chart based on sales of 188,000 units in its first week of release. In addition to its Top 5 position, the soundtrack is #1 on Billboard's Soundtrack and Childrens' charts. The Jonas Brothers' "Burning Up" tour kicks off in Toronto on July 4, with special guest Demi Lovato, the brothers have a reality series called "Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream," which follows the trio on tour, and there is a Disney Channel comedy series "J.O.N.A.S!" scheduled for the fall. Rock on!
