There were no big surprises this past weekend, as the big green guy stomped on the box office, and "Shrek the Third" pulled the third-highest grossing debut weekend on record and the biggest opening for an animated flick since Shrek 2.
Meanwhile, "Spider-Man 3", in second place has managed 'only' $29 million, which although domestically it has fallen below the marks of the original "Spider-Man" at this point, the worldwide receipts thus far of $466.5 million has made it the highest-grossing of the series. In fifth place, "Disturbia" has qualified as a bonafide hit, registering $71.4 million over 38 days.
