Bond and the birds held steady in their third weekend atop the box office charts, with "Happy Feet" doing $17.5 million in business to hold the number one spot, and "Casino Royale" pulling in just over $15 million. "Happy Feet" now has a total of $121 million after 17 days. Traditionally, the top spots in the post-Thanksgiving weekend are held by repeats, as Hollywood rarely releases any blockbusters on what is a traditionally slow weekend.
New this weekend, "The Nativity Story" failed to impress moviegoers, but managed to land in fourth place. The only other new releases, "Turistas" from Fox Atomic and National Lampoon's Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj limped into eight and tenth place respectively. Turistas looked like a "Hostel" knock off (without the box office payoff), while Van Wilder was missing the title character.
Last weekend's full top 10 was as follows:
1) Happy Feet - $17.5 million
2) Casino Royale - $15.1 million
3) Deja Vu - $10.9 million
4) The Nativity Story - $7.8 million
5) Deck the Halls - $6.7 million
6) The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause - $4.9 million
7) Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - $4.7 million
8) Turistas - $3.6 million
9) Stranger Than Fiction - $3.4 million
10) National Lampoon's Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj - $2.3 million
