While 'Talledega Nights' managed to maintain the lead again last weekend, the dance movie, 'Take the Lead', managed to upstage Oliver Stone's high profile debut of 'World Trade Center'. It seems the teen girl audience was out in full force to support Take the Lead's "good girl falls for bad boy" plotline, and the movie exceeded expectations at the box office while scoring high on the exit polls with moviegoers.
The other two new releases in the top ten were the teen horror flick 'Pulse' with just over $8 million, and Tim Allen's 'Zoom', which barely registered on the movie radar screen with $4.5 million.
Last weekend's full top 10 was as follows:
1) Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby - $22.1 million
2) Step Up - $20.7 million
3) World Trade Center - $18.7 million
4) The Barnyard - $9.7 million
5) Pulse - $8.2 million
6) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - $7.2 million
7) Miami Vice - $4.7 million
8) The Descent - $4.6 million
9) Zoom - $4.5 million
10) Monster House - $3.3 million
